A different kind of adult job - writing erotic letters
Lana, a 32 year old writer from
Scotland shares how she started an
adult job by writing custom erotic letters. After divorcing her husband, she started to write a novel. Not having any kind of income, she started to work as a receptionist, and wrote her novel during the day.
When I wasn't at the hotel, I wrote every chance I could. I longed to create a second home for my children and to show them that a divorce doesn't condemn someone to a life of penury.
And than I ran into Brian, an old boyfriend...
I met Brian on my trip to London to visit my parents. He was a successful businessman, never married and looking...yummy :) So I decided what better challenge to a writer than to win a cold businessman's heart?
I was hesitating at my first email, but after a couple of boring emails we began a correspondence full of desire and longing. To be more specific, I sent him long erotic letters full of sexual details and he read them. My goal was to get him to come to me, but instead he told me that I have a talent as an erotic letter writer and that I should find a way to exploit. Is that some kind of
adult job? I didn't knew, so I started to do some research.
I started to research the market and found out that while adult video porn jobs are multi billion pound industries, it's not the erotic writers who are getting rich...
I needed to brainstorm something new
As I was reading my morning newspaper I discovered that on the "personals" section you can find intellectual lonely people who - for whatever reason, didn't want to use the internet dating websites. I figured, instead of writing for a lot of readers, why not write erotic letters for individual clients, like woman who feel uncomfortable talking about sex - I thought: "I could be their amanuensis! How cool is that?!"
I thought women could talk to me and that I would translate their language for their boyfriends or husbands. I imagined writing surprise birthday presents, like sexy surprises guys might not expect from their girlfriend or wife who was raised not to talk about what she wants in the bedroom.
To my surprise, my first response (and every response thereafter) came from a man. Since I started to write private erotic letters for clients, I never had a woman contact me.
Writing about sex for money brought me to the borderline.
Was I engaging in
adult work? And if so, did it really matter? I never talked to these people face to face, not even on the phone. For all I knew, even the names they used to contact me were fake and to be honest - I didn't care.
What really surprised me was that my clients never wanted me to write about rough sex that dominates so much adult pornography these days. Instead, I was asked to write about the tenderness that husbands felt towards their wives flaws - scars, soft bellies, stretch marks, changing bodies and every intimate detail only they knew about each other.
I think it's funny that I am helping men to find their voice when usually women are the ones silenced when it comes to secret fantasies. All in all, I like to think that I help men finding their voice, because a little tenderness goes a long way in strengthening the bonds that tie couples together.
